July 23, 2009 John Henry, curator of the Outdoor Museum of Art at Chattanooga State College in Tennessee, is this year’s judge for the competition. He is known worldwide for his large-scale public works of art, which grace numerous museum, corporate, public and private collections. His works are prominently exhibited in many American cities and throughout Europe and Asia. His works range in scale from small table-top pieces to some of the largest contemporary metal sculptures in the world. This year, we are introducing a new award category. The Caldwell Public Art Award will go to one artist for a one-year outdoor installation in Caldwell County from September 2009 to September 2010. This award includes a $2,000 stipend to the winning artist. Entry guidelines for this award are available on our website. The Sculpture Celebration is co-sponsored by the Tri-State Sculptors Association and the Caldwell Arts Council. For more information, please contact the Caldwell Arts Council at 828-754-2486 or visit the web site at www.caldwellarts.com. |
